Workshop – GROPIUS’ IMPINGTON: Power and Space

Thursday, 29 October 2015 from 13:00 to 15:00 (GMT)

The movement and sculpture workshop led by Elena Cologni, is an opportunity to discuss and test the relationship between space and power. This will allow the participants to respond to the only public Gropius Building in the UK, while being guided by the following provocations:

  • how is power exercised in/by space, can the body resist it or memorise/forget it ( Henri Lefebvre , Merlau-Ponty, Paul Connerton) –
  •  how can we relate to each other as a group in specific physical situations (pre-linguistic, informed my Danilo Dolci)
  • Fighting geometry (meta-modernism)

This event is organised by rockfluid.  The project is funded through the Grants for the Arts, Arts Council England, supported by Impington Village College 75th Anniversary Festival, Cambridge Central Library Collections, Cambridge Festival of Ideas. All money from ticket sales for this project will go towards the Gropius Restoration Appeal.
